New Commercial & Multifamily Permits – Q2 2026
The FM metro recorded 67 new commercial and multifamily building permits in Q2 of 2026, representing approximately $154.1 million in new commercial real estate investment across Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo. That represents a huge 165% QOQ increase from Q1 of 2026 that saw just 21 new commercial and multi-family permits totaling $58.3M. This also compares favorably to the 59 new commercial and multifamily permits in Q2 of 2025, totaling just over $123.4 million in permit value, a 24.9% increase in quarterly permit value YOY.
Year-to-date through Q2 of 2026, the FM Metro has recorded $212.4 million in new commercial and multifamily permits, which is up 38.6% from the $153.3 million in permits YTD in 2025.

- A new FedEx warehouse facility at 3555 48th Ave N, Fargo | $19.1M

Commercial Remodel Permits – Q2 2026
The FM metro recorded approximately $34.4 million in commercial remodel permits in Q2 of 2026. This compares to $38.4 million in remodel permits in Q1 of 2026 (down 10.4% QOQ), or the $41.0M in Q2 of 2025 (down 16.1% YOY).
Through Q2 of 2026, the FM Metro has recorded $72.8 million in commercial remodel permits, which is down 11.2% YOY from the $82.0 million in permits YTD in 2025.
